Private Lessons
While most dogs can benefit from a group basic obedience class, sometimes pets need a more personalized approach to address specific behaviors. Our individual consultation sessions can:
- reinforce basic training at home and outside the classroom
- address challenging behaviors and anxieties
- teach specialized skills, such as assistance dog techniques
- supplement group training with advanced training
(Austin area only)
Consultations
For folks outside of the Austin area, we offer phone,email and/or video consultations. These sessions can address the same issues covered in our in-person training sessions, but require the pet owner to be more engaged in executing the training plan. Consultation session clients receive one month of email-based follow up support, and clients can engage in one or more voice/video sessions based on need.
Help Choosing the Right Pet
One of the most important decisions you can make is to choose the right pet. After a comprehensive interview with you and your family, we provide a personalized new pet profile to help you with your pet search. Interview topics include:
- family composition – single, children, baby
- current pets – cats, dogs, misc.
- experience with pets – raised a puppy
- activity level in home – super athletic, really laid back
- time commitment available – is someone home all day? do you travel frequently?
- size of home and yard
Your personalized pet profile will include recommended breeds, age, size, and temperaments to look for as well as a tip sheet to help you assess each potential pet.
